This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the accounting and finance functions of the organization.
The controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Duties and Responsibilities •Oversee all aspects of project accounting and reporting •Assure project revenue and costs are accurately reflected for all reporting requirements •Manage internal/external audits for contract compliance and financial statement reporting •Uphold project data integrity as a result of contractual obligation throughout contract terms •Ensure accounts receivable activities are conducted appropriately •Participate in project meetings as required •Monitor the financial progress of jobs by reviewing and publishing job cost reports that compare actual job costs to budgeted job costs on a proactive and timely basis •Assist CFO with the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts including variance reporting •Prepare the monthly financial statement closing schedule, job cost reports, accrual journal entries, percentage-of-completion schedule, percentage-of-completion journal entries, income tax provision, and monthly financial statements •Monitor cash flows and cash balances •Monitor compliance with internal accounting controls •Assist with monitoring and educating staff on accounting policies, techniques, and fiscal responsibility •Assist project staff in regard to owner audits, owner or subcontractor claims, AR collection issues and other related financial issues •Respond to the division leaders’ inquiries for administrative or financial information •Prepare and submit state/federal or other governmental required tax returns, including sales, franchise, and income tax reporting •Assist with 401(k) and other benefits/payroll administration as required •Manage special projects related to financial systems and processes as assigned by the CFO •Other duties as required
