The Director of Design, Planning, & Construction, under general direction, develops design and construction programs. Supervises and manages planning and construction of new facilities and major renovation projects. Leads and oversees capital design and construction projects in adherence with appropriate standards and policies.
Responsibilities:
Oversees all planning, design, and construction projects on campus to ensure university standards are followed.
Liaison to System representatives for university facility.
Coordinate, as needed, with City, County, and State entities on behalf of the university for facility and utility matters.
Ensures that facilities are designed and built to meet user functional requirements based on the Program of Requirements, State and Federal laws, Board of Regent policies, and TAMUS regulations.
Guides the evolutions of design development through concept, preliminary design, and detailed design stages, and coordinates presentation of designs.
Serves as university representative for presenting recommendations to project architect/engineer (A/E) and construction management (CM) teams. Negotiates contracts with A/E and CM.
Oversees and monitors scope, budget, schedule, quality control, and conformance of Programs of Requirements throughout design and construction.
Works closely with vendor responsible for facilities and project management to ensure quality assurance and efficiency measures in order to receive the best value for the university and the State of Texas.
Acts as a representative of Campus Operations and as a valued member of TSU as part of the A&M system and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ten years of related experience.

Experience managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to effectively guide, lead, and develop employees promoting team relationship skills and communication.
Ability to be accountable, responsible, and dependable member of the Campus Operations team.
